It is such a privilege to be around a bride and a groom during their getting ready time. It feels like a sacred time when their very dear people are present. It’s an exciting, occasionally stressful (for the bride or groom) but always momentous and hopefully cherished time. If wedding detail shots are important to you, here are a few tips to make the most out of this time.

Plan

This is a special time. Anything that you think could potentially be stressful, plan around it so that you can enjoy your preparations. Time slips away on the wedding day, so make sure you have enough padding in plenty of prep time with your hair and makeup team. We’ll ask you if detail shots are important to you and get a list of any special items before your day.

Detail Shots

Give someone in your bridal party or family the heads up about what you need gathered and where they are. If they are all together when we arrive, it speeds up our process. Make sure they gather up anything we need to capture.

Groom wedding detail shots:

  • Wedding rings
  • After shave
  • Belt & cufflinks
  • Shoes & socks
  • Invitations
  • Suits
  • Buttonhole flowers (Boutonnière)
  • If a loved one has passed on, you may like a framed picture of them in the background

Bride wedding detail shots:

  • Your dress and bridesmaids
  • The invitation (if it wasn’t at the grooms)
  • Engagement ring
  • Bouquets
  • Bridal jewelry
  • Bridal shoes
  • Veil or headpiece if you are not yet wearing it
  • Your perfume
  • If a loved one has passed on, you may like a framed picture of them in the background
  • Anything else that you want to remember

Where

As soon as we get to you we will quickly walk around to decide the best place to set up your detail shots. We are looking for nice light, an uncluttered scene and nice textures to photography on.

When

We start with the detail shots when we arrive so everyone relax with us before we start photographing you and you crew.

We will be in touch close to your wedding to find out if there are any special items you want photographed. If you have any questions, be sure to drop us a line.
